What a fab short stay in this little gem of a cottage, easy access to Snowdon, Portmierion, slate caves, fan pub grub in the local, blessed with sunny views across the estuary. And the cottage, immaculately presented, a cosy rest place after walking with great hosts! Thank you so much for the memories x Will definitely recommend

The Summer House was just an ideal escape from the busy work life. Just what was needed, Vicky and Mike were fabulous hosts and very knowledgeable of the area. Ive had friends wanting details so ive had no hesitation of recommending this little gem of a place! Everything you needed (even a slow cooker!) in a fully functional kitchen, amazing fire that helped with the cosy nights, and beaches to explore in any direction! Top hosts, top place, top location!.

I had a fantastic time in North Wales! The train station is a short walk from the summer house, and the conductors were helpful in making sure the train would stop at Talsarnau for me (you have to request it). The property is lovely, with all the amenities you need to be comfortable. I got groceries at the SPAR a few towns over, and the kitchen had everything I needed to cook. I was able to explore the area (from Pwllheli to Dolgellau) without a car, using just the train and my bike. Vicky and Mike are absolutely delightful hosts, and their hospitality is what made my trip so excellent. They are friendly, responsive, and clearly very practiced hosts. They always anticipated when I would need more firewood - the real fireplace was such a treat, and kept me toasty warm in the mornings and evenings! Plenty of information was provided prior to my trip to help me plan, and the house has a binder full of key details and local recommendations. Thank you Vicky and Mike for a lovely trip!.

Absolutely wonderful stay. What a find! House is located in wonderful location, very close to so many places to visit from mountains to beaches, to beautiful Welsh towns and villages. There are castles everywhere, wonderful places to eat, drink. Vicky was brilliant with communications and easily accessed house which was full of amenities and guides on what to do. Stay here or regret it!.

The Summer House was just as described. It was comfortable and homely and very cosy with the log fire ??! The cottage is very well equipped not just with the usual kitchen equipment but lots of extras/cleaning equipment/bottled water etc. The mattress and pillows on the bed are very comfortable and whilst just a double in size (we are used to a superking at home) we managed fine. Being able to take our cockapoo Bertie was perfect and whilst he doesn’t shed we always take and use our own throws although there are plenty provided in the cottage! The location was perfect for us as we wanted close access to Barmouth and Aberdaron so Talsarnau was just perfect ??. Vicky and Mike are very responsive/helpful and we had every confidence that everything would be as it should be which makes for a relaxed trip. Thank you, we will be back!

The Cottage was cosy, quiet and warm with excellent facilities. Property manager kept in touch to make sure everything was OK and check if anything was needed. The bed was comfortable as well. All round a really comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Long Description

On a lovely secluded terrace called Bryn Street, off the main road through Talsarnau, you'll find a traditional stone cottage called The Summer House. Notwithstanding, this is a cottage for all seasons, with it's traditional stone fireplace, log burner, beams and open plan kitchen diner. It has a wonderful enclosed terraced garden with a raised deck and patio where you can see Snowdon to the north and Port Meirion to the west across the Dwyrd estuary and Giftan Island. At low tide you can walk across the salt marsh and sand to the island.

The Summer House is the ideal gettaway, not being far from anywhere. The mountains and the lakes at the back and the coast in front, it is the place to explore Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninsula, as well as being within easy striking distance of Harlech and Porthmadog. There are beaches all along the coast and some stunning little coves at Borth-y-Gest. The vibrant town of Barmouth is ony half an hour's drive away.

Step outside the cottage and walk up the hill for as long as you want, likely you won't meet a soul except the odd farmer. The scenery is stunning no matter which direction you take. If you get more serious about mountain walking the Rhinogs are great hiking country, again without being crowded with other hikers.

Just over the road from the cottage is the local pub and restaurant, The Ship Aground, and a few metres further is the Pit Stop where you can grab a pie or a burger and chat with friendlly locals at the picnic tables.

As your friendly hosts, Mike and Vicky, live just next door, you'll not want for timely assistance or advice, should you request it, concerning how to make the most of your stay. The Summer House is pet friendly and there are plenty of places to take dogs for a walk. On the way, you'll meet many locals walking their dogs too.

The cottage has been recently refurbished (partly by us) with contemporary decor, a well-appointed kitchen and a washing machine. The bedroom has a comfortable double bed and the bathroom has an electric shower, WC and wash basin, (all recently installed).
